Things We Love About West Bladen Assisted Living

There’s a lot to like about West Bladen.

We understand that when you or your loved one is looking for a new assisted living home, it takes much more than a nice building and great amenities to create a sense of thankfulness, belonging and compassion.

If you’ll indulge us for a moment, we would like to take a moment to reflect upon the things we love about our community.

We Love Our Memory Care Unit Employees

Alzheimer’s disease has a devastating effect on millions of Americans. In fact, more than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease.

In addition, 16 million Americans—often family—provide unpaid care for those with the disease. This creates intense stress, stretches finances, and makes it difficult for these caregivers to concentrate on their careers or their other family members.

That’s one reason we appreciate our memory care workers—they provide the care needed so you can return to your role as son, daughter or spouse.

Did you know that our memory care unit workers have had special training on how to help those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias?

This training includes not only classroom instruction, but practical, supervised experience. In addition to exceptional nursing skills, these team members must also be able to carefully intervene for those who have cognitive or behavioral issues.

This is important because Alzheimer’s affects the body in addition to the mind.

Do you have a family member who has dementia? We have 26 beds in a dedicated memory care center where they can thrive in a safe and welcoming environment.

We’re thankful to these employees for providing an environment that is stimulating, safe and engaging for these wonderful residents.

We’re grateful to have them on our staff.

We Love Furry Friends

Sometimes, a visit is made complete by an encounter with a beloved four-legged pal. We understand that often, animals can be very therapeutic to have around.

If you find that a visit from your pet would help, talk to us.

We examine pet visits on a case-by-case basis.

Do you have a furry companion you’d like to visit? Make sure it has up-to-date vaccinations and then contact us. We’ll discuss details with you.

We Love Those Who Work “Behind the Scenes”

Our caring, compassionate team of health care providers and nursing assistants are always available to help. We also appreciate those who make great contributions to West Bladen but perhaps aren’t as visible.

We’re grateful for the dedicated hands that prepare our home-cooked meals, our secretaries and office workers, our maintenance and housekeeping services that provide assistance to our residents, and those whose efforts provide a beautiful, landscaped area outside for our residents to enjoy.

We Love Our Nursing Staff

CNAs and RNs are vital to ensure that our residents only get the best treatment available. They are a vital part of our team.

Through our assisted living services our staff is able to give residents as much independence as is safely possible while always being available to lend a hand if needed.

We Love Our Residents!

We saved the best for last!

Everything we do, every day, is centered on our residents. From every cup of coffee we brew to each nursing visit to every encounter in the hallways, we are intently focused on giving the highest level of care.

Not because we have to. But because we want to.

This is why, in so many ways, we’re thankful that West Bladen is like a family. We’re here for your loved ones when you can’t physically be on campus. We want you to know that they are in good hands, and we are treating them the way we would treat members of our own family.
