What Is The Cost of Assisted Living?

You’re sold on the concept: Assisted living will make your life easier for you or your loved one. It means that you won’t have to worry about falls, home maintenance or even preparing meals.

But there’s one thing that makes you hesitant.

What is the assisted living cost?

Don’t worry, we’ve broken it down for you so you can clearly see what is—and is not—included in many assisted living communities. This will help you make an informed choice for this next step in your life.

What Is Included in Assisted Living Cost?

It may surprise you to know what is NOT included at many assisted living homes. It’s important to read the fine print to ensure that you’re not “nickel and dimed” to death. Can you believe that some places will actually charge you for an extra cup of coffee delivered to your room in the afternoon?

That’s not our philosophy at West Bladen. Here, all your assisted living benefits are included in one flat fee. So, feel free to enjoy the extra afternoon coffee with your new friends—or take comfort in the fact that your loved one won’t receive any surprises in the form of an unexpected bill.

Basic Rent and Board

In most assisted living facilities, your basic room and board are covered in your monthly payment.

While essential aspects such as personal care are provided, other services may be determined by an a la carte pricing—meaning you pay for each individual item. These may include laundry services, housekeeping and medication management.

When you hear about the cost of room and board, be sure to ask questions!

At West Bladen, we include laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, medication services and more in our package.

Community Activities

We don’t think you should be charged for participating in our scheduled activities. We think they should be open to everyone because our sense of community is what makes West Bladen so special.

But it’s important to ask any assisted living facility about whether or not these activities are included.

Transportation

This one can be a bit tricky. With some facilities, it’s included, while for others, it’s not. Some may only provide transportation to and from doctor’s appointments. Again, this is important to understand up front, particularly if you have extensive or chronic health issues that will need to be addressed on a regular basis.

Assistance with Care Needs

When you join an assisted living community, you’ll likely be evaluated to determine what level of care you need. As you grow older, your needs may change, and you’ll find you’re needing more assistance and services.

Some assisted living communities will charge extra if your scope of care increases.

At West Bladen, we believe these should be included in your flat fee—and that’s exactly what we do. We want you to know that we’re dedicated to giving you the same care and attention that would members of our own family.

Because we’re locally owned and operated, we have a vested interest in our community. We want you to not merely be a resident—we want you to thrive in your new surroundings.

West Bladen: Where You Don’t Have to Worry About Hidden Fees

We believe that the entire point of assisted living is to help you leave your worries and cares behind—and that includes worries about unexpected charges.

That’s why you won’t find them at West Bladen. Our flat fee structure means that you get all your activities, your meals, assistance with tasks of daily living and all the little extras in one price.

We don’t believe in squeezing every last nickel out of our residents. It’s against our philosophy of who we are. You see, our residents love living at West Bladen because not only do we engage in fair pricing, but we also create an environment of dignity and respect.
